Flanimal: The Elehippig
The Elehippig
Elephante-hippous-pig
Discovered: June 17, 2008

The elehippig has a round appearance of a hippo, massive ears of an elephant, and a curly tail of a pig. When the flanimal is happy, it noisily lets out a loud bray the same as an elephant’s, even though the elehippig does not have an elephant’s trunk. This creature emits a pig’s squeel/snort when angry or scared.
The elehippig hatches after about three days from a perfectly round purple egg.It is about the size of a golf ball when it first emerges. For about two months, it lives in the water with the other five to seven other elehippigs that hatched with it. During these two months, the elehippig grows to tennis ball size. Around this time, the flanimal stops living in the water and walks to the nearest town in search of a family.
Finding a family to live with is the elehippig’s life goal and purpose, because they love people. Most oftenly, the flanimal gets accepted by a family because it is so small and cute looking. When it is a family pet, its life ends peacefully after four to six years. When rejected from a family, it goes into the nearest forest. There, it jumps up into a tree. When in the tree, it learns how to fly with its ears with help from the birds. If living in the wild, it lays eggs after four to six years in the same body of water that it hatched in. After doing so, the elehippig dies in the water at the end of its life cycle.

I love your beautiful words! The word ‘bray’ created such an image in my mind – it shocked me. I wasn’t expecting it. You are a very talented writer. I look forward to reading more of your blogs.
